This woody perennial is endemic to the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma. This particular ecotype is potentially the first found in the Boston Mountain uplift of eastern Oklahoma.

Ecology: thrives in uplands, open woodlands, and glades. Nectar highly valuable to insects.
